Yep. The party’s over.
Surgery and recovery complete (for the most part), it’s time for me to head back to work (that four-letter word!). It seems as if I should be complaining about spending my entire summer recuperating from the hysterectomy … but I’m really very thankful that I had this time to rest and recover.
Besides, I did squeeze in a few great junking/shopping trips, some matinees (Mamma Mia! twice … LOVED it … Pierce Brosnan can’t sing a lick, but who bloody cares?!) and my baby’s 15th birthday celebration. Oh! And the new flooring, which isn’t installed yet, but phase one is complete. We’re walking around on concrete for another couple of days … but that’s another entirely different story. Ugh!!!
Not bad for someone who had 16 staples holding her insides together! Yikes!
ANYways, I wanted to share some birthday pics with y’all. About every two years, Matt asks for a bedroom “makeover”. Okay, that’s not entirely true. It’s actually ME who wants to re-do his room and I ask HIM if I can do it for his birthday. This year, he chose the theme of Mario and Luigi, those crazy video game brothers who I think are plumbers. Who knows.
Keeping in mind that he’s 15, I tried for a more mature look (which isn’t very easy considering what Mario and Luigi look like!). I think I pulled it off. Either way, he was very happy with his room. And mama’s happy too, if not exhausted.
Enjoy the pics.

you'd never guess it took me days to complete this room. it was a disaster area. can you say 'poptart wrappers under the mattress?!' arghh!!

new red curtains (mario-inspired), new green bedspread (luigi-inspired), mario and luigi murals on wall, over his gaming area

cut out the covers from his video game cases (yes, i did) and decoupaged them onto an old lamp shade ... the lamp was a $2 GW find, white wicker that i was going to paint pink, but used it for his room instead, painted red
Thanks for stopping by! Till next time! 🙂
