Yep. The party’s over.

Surgery and recovery complete (for the most part), it’s time for me to head back to work (that four-letter word!). It seems as if I should be complaining about spending my entire summer recuperating from the hysterectomy … but I’m really very thankful that I had this time to rest and recover.

Besides, I did squeeze in a few great junking/shopping trips, some matinees (Mamma Mia! twice … LOVED it … Pierce Brosnan can’t sing a lick, but who bloody cares?!) and my baby’s 15th birthday celebration. Oh! And the new flooring, which isn’t installed yet, but phase one is complete. We’re walking around on concrete for another couple of days … but that’s another entirely different story. Ugh!!!

Not bad for someone who had 16 staples holding her insides together! Yikes!

ANYways, I wanted to share some birthday pics with y’all. About every two years, Matt asks for a bedroom “makeover”. Okay, that’s not entirely true. It’s actually ME who wants to re-do his room and I ask HIM if I can do it for his birthday. This year, he chose the theme of Mario and Luigi, those crazy video game brothers who I think are plumbers. Who knows.

Keeping in mind that he’s 15, I tried for a more mature look (which isn’t very easy considering what Mario and Luigi look like!). I think I pulled it off. Either way, he was very happy with his room. And mama’s happy too, if not exhausted.

Enjoy the pics.

you'd never guess it took me days to complete this room. it was a disaster area. can you say 'poptart wrappers under the mattress?!' arghh!!

Hi again!

Wow! This is soooo much fun … meeting “kindred spirits” (thanks, Sue and Oliveoyl!) of the shabby chic/vintage world!

I’ve always loved antiquing and junking … but aside from my shopping pals, I’ve never really networked with others who share my passion. It’s great …. I LOVE it!!

It’s lump day at my house. That’s what my daughter used to call Wednesdays (hump-day) when she was little. She ALWAYS mixed up her words (as kids are wont to do). Funny how things like that stick around in a family … she’s 25 now and we still say LUMP DAY. 🙂

Lately, everyday’s been lump day for me. Recovering from a hysterectomy is a b*tch! It’s frightfully boring, just sitting around being the patient (as a nurse, I make an especially horrible patient)! But at least now I have something semi-productive to do with my time. haha!

Here are some more lovelies just sitting around my house looking adorable. All, or most, are Sweet Sue’s creations. (vintagesue.wordpress.com … eventually I’ll learn how to insert a REAL link here … sheesh!)

See the little turquoise melamine sugar bowl? My mama had one just like that (wish it were really hers!) ... and that's been my inspiration for a retro-kitchen! A work in progress ...

Always Kiss Me Goodnight

This piece was a birthday gift from a dear friend; a product of Sue. It's hanging over my vintage vanity, underneath my favorite sign: Always Kiss Me Goodnight

Sweet cherub from Sue ... I baptized her in pink, though.

Whew! I have LOTS more pics but this is getting incredibly long. More tomorrow!

Till then! 🙂

Okay, can’t resist … here’s my hubby getting ready for his daily run. He’s not much into the shabby chic/vintage business … he actually dared to put his WEIGHTS on my chenille-covered loveseat!!! ARGHHH … MEN!!! 🙂

Ben, completely oblivious to the wonderfully shabby chic/Paris chic look around him ... but I still love him!
