hey again,

so much for keeping my blog fresh. sigh … oh well.

have had such a difficult time shaking this illness. i feel semi-okay one day, the next like death. it’s been exactly FOUR weeks since i started this stuff. enough already, i say!

okay, anyhow, i did manage some junking on friday. matt (my son) and i went to the GW bargain barn in cove. lotsa fun and came home with a few treasures. pics below.

also including a couple of other pictures from around the house. i made a fantastico centerpiece using the infamous roadside white plates and some yummy turquoise-esque beads and feathers. i was pleased with its beauty and uniqueness. my son looked at it as if a space alien had just landed on the table. hmmph. that boy needs some culture.

enjoy the pics and pretend i said something clever here at the end. 🙂

love and hugs,
terry lee

hey y’all!

am finally starting to feel like a human bean again. was yucky sick for over 2 weeks … but y’all don’t wanna hear about that.

missed out on a fantastic FAG trip this weekend. they went to fredricksburg for the trade days (sans their head FAG, moi). just wasn’t feeling up to that much shopping. my spirit was willing … flesh was weak.

however, i did make it out to belton for the city-wide garage sale. kinda crowdy, but worth it! SCORE!! a VERY sweet vintage white wicker sofa and rocker, an old screen door, painted pink and backed with an old white lacy tablecloth (adorable!!), a yum-yum-yummy vintage pink chenille bedspread (all from the same vendor … a kind and gentle couple from evant who gave me a steal-of-a-deal on the lot) … and four little vintage aprons, two pink/pink with roses and two turquoise lovelies from some dude with a middle-eastern accent. whatsup with that?! oh well, only in america.

quick “hubby” story before the pics. a couple of weekends ago, ben and i were on our way home from a restaurant. as we looped around a busy intersection, i noticed a box in the street. it was partially torn open and had what appeared to be plates falling out of it. naturally, i thought we’d turn around and check it out. naturally, i was wrong … because ben was driving. and he stops for nothing. not even for alleged roadside treasures.

was a little miffed, but also a little too sick to argue my case. got home, went to bed, forgot about it.

the next morning, my sweet hubby went to the pharmacy to get my medication. when he came home, he was lugging a heavy, torn-apart box and sporting a “look what i got, mommy!” expression on his face. he plopped it down on my dining table (yikes!) and immediately, i knew what it was … and what he’d done.

how SWEET is that?!! good job, benjamin! i love you for that. for endangering your life (!!) in that busy intersection to get those silly plates because it’d make me happy … for all the times you go out of your way to make me happy. you’re the best.

btw, the plates were obviously headed to the hotel/restaurant at that intersection. they were just plain, white, service-industry 5″ plates … 25 of them that weren’t broken. but i can use them for crafts. and if i can’t, i betcha i know who can (hi sue!).

okay, on to da pics! lots of ’em this time. and in order to expedite this process, not all of them will have captions. so i hope you did your homework and read every word of my blog. haha.

love and hugs to all,
terry lee

hey y’all,

i really goofed with my last blog. shortly after it hit the press, my dear, sweet hubby informed me that i had failed to mention the absolutely WONDERFUL christmas gift that he gave me … a way cool printer/scanner/copier/fly me to the moon machine … which is HOW i am now able to scan and upload those great vintage family photos that i shared with y’all.

how could i have been so remiss?! old age. chemo-brain. teenager-induced ssstresss. people in wal-mart. any number of excuses. i’m SOOO sorry, sweetie pie. i LOVE my new toy. but i love you more. how’s that? 😉

anyways, on to the pics … some of my other christmas presents (not everything, so stay tuned), some of this and that.

happy weekend!

love and hugs,
terry lee

heavy old clock i found at the GW barn a long time ago. it worked, but didn't like that it was all goldtone. FINALLY painted the floral part, numbers and hands pink, glued an old fork and spoon on it (it's in the kitchen) and a castoff earring at the bottom.

hey y’all!

my, how time flies! i didn’t realize it’d been so long since my last post!

you’d think that i’d have more time now that i’m staying home (home-schooling my youngest) … but noooooooo. not so. we stay very busy and we’re having a blast. it’s a great blessing for both of us.

anyways, here are a few pics of some recent treasure hunt finds and of my front room, which is now officially “paris-themed”. last weekend, i SCORED a vintage singer dressform at a yard sale. shall i tell you how much? okay. FOUR bucks!! she’s now in my paris room. love her. and need to name her. she’s my first.

another notable find … a big ol’ pink fru fru dress (bridesmaid?? prom dress??) at the harker heights goodwill bargain barn. ohmygawd. it caught my eye as soon as i walked in and it just wouldn’t stop yapping at me the entire time. “take me home! you need me! i’m PINK! just look at me! buy me!” i finally caved in and put her on the pile of junk i was buying just to shut her up. geez.

oh! and sue, i absolutely LOVED your visit! i never knew my garage could be so much fun! ha! sorry ’bout the stale sandwiches (and on PAPER plates to boot!). gawd, i’m an awful hostess … 😦

hope y’all have a great thanksgiving holiday. don’t forget to count your blessings … great and small.

love, hugs and blessings to all,
terry lee

Hey y’all!

What a crazy week! Has anyone else felt the effects of the full moon? When you work with and around children, you can always tell when it’s a full moon … without looking at the night sky or the calendar.

Thank God the weekend is here. Can’t wait for Sue’s sale and the Crafter’s sidewalk sale!! Woohoo!!!!

Meantime, I wanted to share my most recent project with you guys. A couple of months ago, I bought this darling retro piece, a rocking loveseat at the Sal-Army. I loved the structure and design of this unusual piece … but it needed some TLC. Also, the cushions were this gawd-awful puke-green color but I knew I could ditch them or cover them (I did both).

Last weekend, the planets and stars aligned (I had the strength, time, motivation and creative juices all at one time) and I finally got to work on it. With absolutely no forethought (as Sue says, “I don’t think, I just DO!”), I began with a paint brush and a bucket of “antique white” paint.

Finished up with Goodwill bargain barn-acquired curtains to cover the green seat cushions, valances for the skirt and pink fringe from Sue’s booth. Tossed the back cushions (yuckie yuck) and used two old bed pillows covered in yard sale-found (10 cents!!) pink pillowcases. Tied a couple of bows on each side and lay a lovely throw pillow from Sue as the final touch.

The total make-over, including the actual loveseat itself, was under $20. Put it on my front porch next to a sweet little glass-top, rusty table from Sue’s booth and then hung some adorable little garden chandies over it.

Am very pleased (and surprised!) with the results. Now … on to the pictures!

Love and hugs to all!

Hey Y’all!

If you’re reading this, more than likely you’re familiar with my “VintageSue Fanaticism”. She’s one of the most creative, vibrant souls that I’ve ever met. She can take a piece of garbage (I’m talkin’ trash picked right from the curb) and turn it into something so amazing, so wonderful (yes, so yummy!) that you would be proud to display it in your home.

I call it her “magic”. I don’t know how she does it … but it continues to amaze me and thrill me each time I enter her booth of lovelies. It’s like a spell that washes over me. She calls it “craziness”, but whatever you call it, it is something very special.

Talent and creativity aside, what makes this lady even more special is her sweet, generous spirit. She has a “Pay it Forward” philosophy and I’m willing to bet that it has served her well.

Here then, are pictures of just some of the goodies that Sue has blessed me with … both given to me and some I bought from her. In my opinion, they are ALL gifts. So here’s to you, Sue!

Love and hugs to all!

Hey Y’all!

Before I start blathering on about the junk I unearthed today at yard sales and the Goodwill, I want to say a public THANK YOU to dear, sweet Sue, aka VintageSue.

She said she was leaving me a goodie bag at Crafter’s, and I picked it up on Wednesday when I was there, shopping (more like RAIDING!) her booth. Well. Let me tell you, I was speechless. And that doesn’t happen often. HA!

The lady hands me this huge plastic bag (the kind comforters/bedspreads come in) and it is STUFFED to the gills with all manner of niceties, lovelies, goodies and preciousness!!!! Oh.My.Gawd. I could hardly wait to get home and tear into it!!

And that is where I stop the story. For now. I have not taken pictures of all those treasures, so you will have to tune in NEXT time to see just what Miss Vintage Sue shared with me. What a sweet, generous lady she is. Pay it Forward, she does. Thank you, Sue!!

There was a plethora of yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, community-wide sales, book sales, holiday bizarres, flea markets galore this weekend. I wanted to hit each one of ’em, but of course, that never happens.

I sweet-talked my hubby into taking me to Temple. He dropped me off at the GW barn and he headed to the mall. A couple of hours later, I toted several bags (come to think of it, I think HUBBY carried the bags) out to the car. Lotsa great loot there.

We went on a couple of wild goose chases, hunting down phantom yard sales and an estate sale. Not knowing Temple all that well, we didn’t have much luck. However, we stumbled upon a large yard sale at a church. It was the last day of a three-day sale and they were practically BEGGING people to take things. GREAT bargains. Ka-ching!

Happily, we headed home with Chick-Fil-A on my lap.

Eventually (when?!?!), I will get organized and start doing something with all this junk. Sigh. Soooo many projects, soooo little time and energy!!

Happy Weekend, y’all. Love and hugs!
