happy weekend y’all,
geez, this central texas wind is something lately! hate to complain (haha … i’m the queen of whining), but it really makes life difficult when you’re trying to paint (especially spray paint!) on your back patio. oh well, at least the sun, it shineth today. hooray.
i got some painting done earlier in the week. not a lot … just a little pink madness here and there.
yesterday, matt and i hit an estate sale. apparently not early enough though. missed out on a wonderful vintage desk (JUST the kind i’ve been searching for!). there it was, just sitting there, pretty as you please. for all of $10.00. i nearly puked when i saw the big ol’ SOLD sign on it. arghhhhhhhh.
naturally, i tried to use my wicked wiles (they don’t work so well on women) to talk the lady into “re-selling” it to me … for a higher price. i know. i’m evil. i’m bad. hell in a handbasket and all that jazz.
no dice. she was nice about it and offered to give the buyer my phone number if she chose to negotiate with me. i won’t be holding my breath (breathe, breathe … it’s not the end of the world). that was a GREAT vintage desk in primo condition … and for $10. well! i wouldn’t re-sell it. okay, maybe for $200.
so i must move on and stop thinking about it. stop thinking about it. stop thinking about it.
somebody needs a xanax …
seriously though. i did find some other treasures there. and the sweet thing about it was that it was just one street over from the house i grew up in. my old stomping grounds. and the lady running the sale knew everyone i knew. small world. for all the damn good it did me getting that desk.
hmmph.
i LOVE vintage sheet music (i’m a pianist, but not so’s anyone could notice) and they had lots of old, old awesome vintage sheet music in this house. bought most of it. matt asked if i planned to play all those songs on the piano. oddly enough, it hadn’t occured to me. told him i would probably just display them or use them in crafting.
he seemed slightly irritated with me and said, “well, i think you should at least play them before you cut them up into pieces for crafts!”
my, my. an opinionated child. imagine that. that apple didn’t fall far from the tree …
anyways, my other treasures from the ES (estate sale) : a vintage picture frame, a great old tole tray and small silver platter AND a huge beautiful vintage original painting. my grand total: $6. not bad, eh? pics below.
we moved on to some yard sales and then the GW bargain barn. all a bust. but that’s okay. i was more than pleased with my ES treasures.
before we left cove, i had to zip in to sue’s booth. it’d been a long time (too long!) since i’d visited. ohmygawd. lovelies galore!! sue, i bought the “lace” chandie (LOVE IT!), two of your precious garden stakes with rose plates attached (who woulda thunk it?! … only sue!), a most beautiful mini wreath with roses and green lace and the pink heart with buttons. ahhhhhhhhh!!! pics pics pics below. thanks for being so crafty, sue. you’re the best.
and it’s only saturday morning! lotsa sales out there today … if the wind doesn’t blow them away. have fun y’all!
love and hugs,
terry lee

vintage sheet music ... mostly from the 30s and 40s

isn't it lovely?

and you can see how big it is. finding a home for it will be a challenge ...

lace chandie from sue's booth

garden stakes with plates

sweet flowers from sue also

sweet heart with buttons

hanging on my lamp

this is one of the sweetest little wreaths i've ever seen

just lovely

here's a GW find from last week ... painted it, threw a strand of pink 'pearls' on it, added the tealight candles ... cute!

very lovely when lit, too

here are those two angels from the GW, painted pink

time to check in on my 'birdies'! i must be insane to have an old rusty birdcage IN my house, filled with fake birds ... but at least they don't poop or stink or make noise.

sweet little blue birdie and his friends! they have a fun time in there ... or so my demented mind likes to think.

awww, these two little ones have made friends ... please do NOT call the men in white coats. they may not allow internet access where they take me!
what is this wind. she’s angry….she has no trees to block her rage…that is a quote from my dear friend amy….

i still have dreams about an ES sale i went to and all the good stuff was sold. i missed out BIG, BIG time and i still can’t let it go. that is why we are junkers.
i am obsessing right now about a desk i saw curbside a few blocks away, but i am trying to LET IT GO. hard to do.
the answer my friend….is junking in the wind….the answer is junking in the wind.
